About

Born from Connection, Built for Community

The Fair Chance Project didn’t start in a boardroom; it started in a prison visiting room.

As a family navigating the realities of having a husband and father behind bars, We spent countless hours in those rooms. But while we were there to maintain our  bond, we couldn't help but look around at the children.

The "Aha" Moment

During those visits, We didn't just see kids; We heard them. We listened to the quiet conversations at the next table and the heavy sighs of caregivers. We realized that while many organizations step up to provide toys during the holidays, these children were facing a "quiet crisis" the other 364 days of the year.

We heard stories of:

• Lost Opportunities: Kids who couldn't join the local football or dance team because the registration fees and gear were out of reach.

• Educational Hurdles: Students struggling to keep up in school without the extra tutoring or supplies they needed.

• The Weight of Absence: The emotional and financial toll that having an incarcerated parent places on a child’s everyday development.

Turning Compassion into Action

My husband and I looked at each other and knew: Christmas presents aren't enough. A child’s potential shouldn't be paused just because their parent is away.

We saw a need for a "Fair Chance"—a way to level the playing field so that these children can play the sports they love, excel in their classrooms, and feel supported by a community that understands their unique journey without judgment.

What We Do

The Fair Chance Project is dedicated to providing holistic support for children of incarcerated parents. We move beyond the "quick fix" to provide:

• Extracurricular Scholarships: Funding for sports, arts, and music.

• Academic Support: Resources to ensure no child falls behind in school.

• Advocacy & Community: A safe space for families to navigate the challenges of incarceration together.
